Eligible patients may be contacted in the future once a new provider is established. In the meantime patients are encouraged to see their primary care provider who may make referrals to other services at their discretion.
Pregnancy is a physiologic stress test that identifies some women as being at increased risk for cardiovascular disease. At the Postpartum Health Clinic women are screened for cardiovascular risk factors at 6 months postpartum. Any person who has one or more of the following pregnancy-related cardiovascular risk indicators is eligible to attend this clinic:
• Preeclampsia, eclampsia, HELLP syndrome, gestational hypertension
• Gestational diabetes
• IUGR baby or term baby <2500g
• Idiopathic preterm birth (prior to 37 weeks)
• Placental abruption leading to delivery for either maternal or fetal reasons
• Term baby >4500g
Note: The purpose of this clinic is cardiovascular disease screening and prevention at 6 months postpartum. Patients who require management in the early postpartum should be seen by their primary care physician, midwife or obstetrician as approriate.
